The street art form known as ‘yarn-bombing’ can be utilised for non-violent protests, and is a passive form of activism. In this photograph the message, “Listen. Believe + Help” is written on a yellow tag which is attached to a tree that has been ‘yarn-bombed.’ The tree has been wrapped in orange blue, pink and yellow yarn to create a striped pattern, with balls of multi-coloured yarn also threaded into the piece. This photography was taken by UNSW criminologist A/Prof. Alyce McGovern in a series of photos titled ‘Say No to Domestic Violence Knit Bombs’ displayed near the Blacktown City Council.
