The Commune Member Wang Jincai

The Commune Member Wang Jincai (社员王金才) is a charcoal drawing created in 1963, with title of “Wang Jincai, Thirty-mile Shop, Suide”. It depicts an old farmer of the Loess Plateau in a fairly concise way. There is a sharp contrast of black and white, and a balance between emptiness and entity, simplicity and complication. The artwork mainly focuses on the depiction of facial expression, the structure of which is simple, stable, solid, clear and bright.
