Archive materials and historic photographs recount the first Italian-style skyscraper and the 1950s Milan that saw its birth. Following the recent acquisition of the Studio BBPR archive, the focus retraces the history of one of the Studio’s most successful projects: the Torre Velasca.
A famous icon of Milan, an ambitious project and symbol of the economic boom, as much loved as hated, criticized and admired, the Velasca Tower is again in the spotlight for a significant restoration and urban regeneration project today.
Studio BBPR’s archive will be published in the Quaderni series of the MAXXI Architecture and Contemporary Design Archive Centre on the occasion of the exhibition.
