Installations of arc lights, mounted on high tower, first large scale attempt of street lighting was made in Cleveland, Ohio. Charles F> Brush, Clevelander and inventor of the arc lamp was first to attempt lighting of a public thoroughfare. The first installation was a modest one and actually an exhibition rather than a commercial enterprise.
