In Brazil, the only area where regular leatherback sea turtle (Dermochelys coriacea) nesting is known to occur is located on the northern coast of the state of Espírito Santo, in the municipal districts of Aracruz, Linhares and São Mateus, which hosts one of the smallest leatherback rookery in the world.
