Bristol Old Vic is the oldest continuously running theatre in the English-speaking world. We opened in 1766 and have been working to delight, inspire and challenge audiences in Bristol and beyond ever since.
With over 250 years of drama on and offstage, we've got plenty of stories to tell.
We have the most complete administrative archive of any 18th or 19th century theatre, and two extraordinary collections of show material: one housed at Bristol Archives, the other at the University of Bristol Theatre Collection.
Our mission is to create pioneering 21st century theatre in partnership with the people of our energetic city, inspired by the history and magical design of the most beautiful playhouse in the country.
We strive to be welcoming, professional and boundlessly curious; playful, ambitious and rigorous; resourceful, honest, and generous; collaborative, Bristolian and world class.
Come and play.
