The construction of the Cathedral of Mallorca began in the 13th century and was completed in the 1630s. It belongs to the Mediterranean Gothic tradition, but over the centuries it has incorporated the cultural forms of the modern and contemporary eras, highlighting the interventions of Antoni Gaudí and Miquel Barceló.
Since 2013, the Chapter of the Cathedral of Mallorca has managed the Museum of Sacred Art Religious Art that make up its collection are mainly of ecclesiastical origin. Currently, the collection includes more than 1,200 pieces of different types: paintings, sculptures, gold and silverware, numismatics, archaeology, ceramics, graphic documentation, textiles and anthropology. It is located in the Episcopal Palace, just behind the apse of the Cathedral.
