Central Saint Martins, UAL, is a world-leading centre for arts and design education, based in King’s Cross, London.
With a history of radical practice, Central Saint Martins is safe ground for the restless creativity of the future. From fine artists and fashion designers to architects and material innovators, the college community inspires students to question accepted norms and test the boundaries of their discipline.
Artists and designers from Central Saint Martins challenge and shape the world around them (and in the process are celebrated with Turner Prizes, Oscars, British Fashion Council Awards and appointed Royal Designers for Industry and Royal Academicians). Alumni include Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney, Laure Prouvost, Michael Fassbender, Antony Gormley, Helen Marten, Gilbert and George, Jonathan Barnbrook, Christopher Kane, M.I.A., Hussein Chalayan, Tom Hardy, Jarvis Cocker, Riccardo Tisci among many others.
The college’s DNA comes from two art and design schools, St Martin’s School of Art, established in 1854, and the Central School of Art, founded in 1896. In 1989, these two schools merged and since then welcomed Drama Centre London and the Byam Shaw School of Art to become what Central Saint Martins is today.
As one of the six colleges comprising University of the Arts London, Central Saint Martins is part of Europe's largest specialist university for arts and design.
