Fukuoka Art Museum inaugurated in 1979 is located in the Ohori Park which is blessed with water and greenery and yet adjacent to the downtown area. The museum has a wide collection of approximately 16,000 works from ancient to contemporary. It is worth viewing the tea utensils including important cultural properties, Buddhist art and others as well as the works of western-style painters hailed from Kyushu in the modern age and foreign artists such as Dali, Miro and Chagall. Also, various, unique educational programs for Fukuoka’s diversified community are conducted.
