Global Forest Generation (GFG) is committed to fostering a world where remaining forests are protected and critical forest ecosystems are restored – a world where local leaders and communities have the support required for enduring forest conservation. We believe in empowering grassroots projects and investing in leaders that will champion the next generation of forest stewards.
Our flagship nature restoration initiative, Acción Andina, was founded by GFG and on-the-ground partner Asociación Ecosistemas Andinos (ECOAN) and is the first multinational effort dedicated to restoring high-altitude Andean forests of South America. Recognized as a UN World Restoration Flagship and a 2023 Earthshot Prize winner, Acción Andina is a model for holistic nature restoration, working to protect biodiversity and ensure water and climate security for local communities across the Andes. By 2045, the initiative aims to protect and restore one million hectares (almost 2.5 million acres) of critical high Andes ecosystems in seven countries.
