The Hambach Castle, together with the Paulskirche in Frankfurt and the Reichstag in Berlin, can be considered to be one of the most important symbols in German history. It was here, at the Hambach Festival of 1832, where thousands of people united to declare their dreams of freedom and unity. Since then, the Hambach Castle is regarded as the cradle/birthplace of the German democracy.
Today, the exciting exhibition „Up and onwards to the castle!“ is ready to be explored. The tour, consisting of five fascinating themed areas, gives you an overview of the development of democracy to the present day. Numerous interactive and media stations give you the opportunity to conceive, experience and relive history. If you are eager to delve even deeper into the past, try the guided tours and workshops offered for kids, adolescents and adults alike.
Furthermore, the Hambach Castle also provides a diverse and extensive cultural programme regarding the present age. Including political discussions, classic concerts, stage acts, political cabaret and children`s theatre.
