Korea International Cooperation Agency

Seongnam-si, South Korea

Korea Development History Hall was established on May 22, 2015, to commemorate South Korea’s extraordinary development path, transitioning from an aid recipient to a donor country in only half a century. After the World War II, Korea was one of the poorest countries in the world to receive assistance from the international community. However, with generous and substantial support from all around the world, Korea could achieve the “Miracle on the Han River”, referring to the period of Korea’s rapid economic growth and democratization. In 2010, Korea formally changed its status to a donor country and received attention from the world as a bridge connecting recipients and donors. All archives from Korea Development History Hall demonstrate the history of Korea that has developed over numerous difficulties. In order to give back what we received, Korea will keep contributing to the social and economic development of developing countries and the peace and prosperity of the international society.
