The Lithuanian Theatre, Music and Cinema Museum is home to exhibits related to the arts of theatre, film, dance and music. The material in the museum reflects the life, work and experience of Lithuanian artists. It includes unique materials such as photographs, posters, programmes, manuscripts, stage costumes and sketches, scenography concepts, publications, records, theatre puppets, musical instruments, sound recordings and more.
Lithuanian Theatre, Music and Cinema Museum is proud of its collection of over 1 000 sketches of Mstislav Dobuzhinsky's stage and costume designs, which has been inscribed on the UNESCO Register of Cultural Heritage and is preserved in the Museum.
The oldest and most valuable puppets from the first professional Lithuanian puppet show (Antanas Gustaitis' Silvestras Dūdelė, 1936) and the first Lithuanian puppet film (Storulio Sapnas, 1938) - marionettes by Stasys Ušinskas - can also be found there.
Among the valuable collection of musical instruments are instruments from the 18th and 20th centuries made by Lithuanian and foreign manufacturers, as well as original mechanical musical instruments (polyphones, symphonies, pianola, etc.).
The museum also preserves one of the most extensive collections of Lithuanian cinema - the collection of the Lithuanian Film Studio, which contains numerous Soviet-era feature film stills, posters, animation stills and drawings, scripts, moreover cinematographic machinery. The most valuable exhibits of antique film equipment are Pathé projectors from the first half of the 20th century, and professional André Debrie cameras.
