METI’s mission is to develop Japan’s economy and industry by focusing on promoting economic vitality in private companies and smoothly advancing external economic relationships, and to secure stable and efficient supply of energy and mineral resources. With the project MANGA OUT OF THE BOX, we share and partner with the philosophy of Google Arts and Culture, a public service, for the development of the contents industry, from the perspective of promoting the distribution of authorized publications as part of the countermeasures against copyright infringement. This project aims to promote the Japanese manga culture globally, enhance respect for manga artists and copyright holders, and to educate the public about the significance of purchasing authorized versions of manga.
