Museo Histórico Sarmiento

Buenos Aires, Argentina

The Sarmiento Historical Museum was inaugurated on September 11, 1938, in commemoration of the fiftieth anniversary of the death of Domingo Faustino Sarmiento, writer, politician, educator and former president of the Argentine Republic. His presidential administration began on October 12, 1868, and ended on October 12, 1874.

This building, where the Municipality of Belgrano operated until 1938, (current Sarmiento Historical Museum), was built between 1869 and 1872. It was designed by the architect Juan Buschiazzo, who had a very outstanding performance in the second half of the 19th century, being recognized as "the architect of the Generation of '80".
