The Museu Paulista da USP (Paulista Museum of University of São Paulo) is a unit of the University of São Paulo, part of the university's set of museums. The former State Museum was incorporated into USP in 1963, and since then the Monument Building (popularly known as Museu do Ipiranga), as well as the Museu Republicano de Itu, extension at the city of Itu, São Paulo, are now administered by the university.
Currently, the Museu Paulista has a collection with about 450 thousand items, from which it promotes its courses, lectures and academic and cultural events. Its headquarters, the Monument Building of Museu do Ipiranga, is currently closed to visitors for the execution of an integral restoration and modernization process.
