The Newark Museum of Art is the largest museum in the state, and one of the few in the nation devoted to art and science. With a permanent collection of over 130,000 objects, Newark’s art holdings include unsurpassed collections of American art, decorative arts, the arts of Asia, Africa, the Pacific, the Americas, and the ancient Mediterranean world. A permanent science collection of more than 83,000 natural history specimens of zoological, botanical and geological origin illustrate the diversity of life forms, both modern and geological, and the range of minerals and rocks which form the earth's crust.
