Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre is Pittsburgh’s source and ambassador for extraordinary ballet experiences. Since 1969, PBT has built a legacy of excellence and innovation through a series of distinguished artistic directors, a vast repertoire of new and classic works, and a commitment to virtuosic technique. In June 2020, Susan Jaffe, a former American Ballet Theatre principal dancer declared by the New York Times to be “America’s quintessential ballerina,” became PBT’s seventh artistic director. Her leadership alongside Executive Director Harris N. Ferris has set the stage for a new evolution of Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre. The company ranks among the largest performing arts organizations in Pittsburgh, with 30 full-time dancers, a world-class ballet academy and the accompaniment of the PBT Orchestra under the direction of Maestro Charles Barker. Through more than 50 performances each year at home and on tour, PBT continues to fulfill its mission, expand its art form and remain true to the vision of its founders.
