The Rele Arts Foundation is the non-profit initiative for Rele Gallery that aims to engage and drive both the practice and reception of contemporary art in Nigeria while exploring the role of art as a tool for social change and positive impact.
With the implementation of several art-driven initiatives like The Young Contemporaries, Art Summit and the Nigeria in Venice project, the Foundation has been instrumental in driving critical discourse, fostering interdisciplinary exchange between art and technology as well as providing opportunities for experimental and collaborative artistic projects. The Rele Arts Foundation is also focused on situating contemporary Nigerian art practices in a broader, international context.
Rele Gallery is a contemporary art space with growing international reputation, established to act as a critical interface between Nigeria, Africa and the international art worlds. Located in Lagos, the biggest city in Africa, it is a major player on the continent. Since its inception in 2015, it has curated critical and commercially successful exhibitions within and outside the African continent. The space marries two symbiotic purposes, to offer art for public engagement and nurture the creators of the art, bringing the world to their work, exposing a larger, global audience to African contemporary art.
