The Orava Ethnographic Park Museum showcases the traditional material, social, and spiritual culture of the Polish Orava region and, in some way, the entire Sub-Tatra area. It conducts scientific, exhibition, and educational activities.
Homesteads depict the living conditions of the Orava people, ranging from the poor to wealthy. They illustrate daily life, marked by hard work, as well as festive times—filled with joy and hope—both equally rich in various rituals aimed at ensuring prosperity.
On the other side, rural workshops present not only production technologies and the painstaking labor of craftsmen but also people's ability to harness the forces of nature in manufacturing processes. Together with small-scale architecture and the surrounding natural environment, these elements create a unique atmosphere, transporting visitors back in time to the world of our ancestors.
The open-air museum in Zubrzyca Górna has existed for 70 years, yet it continues to evolve. We constantly enhance our offerings to ensure a comfortable experience for all visitors, including people with disabilities, seniors, and families. We strive to make both the content and the form of our exhibitions engaging, encouraging exploration of the culture of Orawa and the entire Sub-Tatra region. Our goal is to be a museum open to everyone.
