Wigry National Park is located in the north-eastern part of Poland. Its northern part lies within the Suwalki Lakeland, while the southern part within the Augustow Forest.
The area enchants visitors with its wildlife, beautiful, clear lakes and scenic landscape.
The Park is open for different kinds of active tourism - there are over 250 km of bicycle and hiking trails, as well as lakes and rivers available for doing water sports and fishing.
Numerous lakes are remnants of the glaciation periods. There are 42 lakes in the Park, with the largest Lake Wigry of 2,187 ha of area, and up to 73 m in depth. Particularly interesting are small dystrophic lakes, surrounded by peatmoss, called "Suchary". The main river of the Park is the Czarna Hancza, which is also a well known canoeing route.
Forests, which cover most of the Park's area represent almost all types of forest communities found in the north-eastern Poland.
