Тhe Yakutia National Fine Arts Museum, the largest art museum in the northeast of Siberia was founded in 1928. The Classical Russian art of the 18-20 centuries is presented by work of V.A. Tropinin, I.K. Ayvazovsky, I.I. Shishkin, K.E. and V. E. Makovsky, I.I. Levitan, A.I. Kuindzhi, K.A. Korovin etc. In the department of foreign art paintings N. Reniery, JB Pittoni, engravings by Rembrandt, Dürer, Callot are presented. Italian, Flemish, Dutch, French, German schools are presented. Section of Oriental Art presents the art of China, Japan, Tibet, Mongolia XIX century. Department of Russian fine art presents the work of leading artists of Russia, the Baltic States, Ukraine, the Caucasus, Belarus. The collection includes works by painters, graphic artists, sculptors, masters of arts and crafts and folk arts and crafts. The most significant part of the collection - a collection of art Yakutia XVIII - beginning of XXI century. - Painting, drawing, sculpture, and folk arts and crafts. Yakut unique section of carved ivory - fishing, known from the XVIII century. The collection of traditional national art is extensive: art metal, woodcarving, products from birchbark, plaiting of horsehair, ornamental sewing and beaded needlework on fur and textile. Art of Yakutia the 20th century, presented by all types, genres, styles and the directions, includes monographic sections of leading artists of Yakutia: painters A.N. Osipov, E.I. Vasilyev, A.D. Vasilyev; E.S. Sivtsev, V. R. Vasilyev, A.P. Munkhalov, V. S. Karamzin, M. A. Rakhleeva, M. G. Starostin, T.E. Shaposhnikova and many others.
