W.A. Test Umpires Honoured

Ten umpires who officiated Test matches in W.A. were inducted into the Western Australian Cricket Association's Test Umpire Walk on February 22, 2019 at the WACA Ground.

Jack Gillott (1962) by WACAWACA Ground

Jack Gillott

Jack Gillott made his Test umpiring debut in 1958 during the first-ever Test match played at the WACA Ground. This was a Women's Test match between Australia and England and his first and only test match. Mr Gillott became a Western Australian Cricket Umpire Association (WACUA) Life Member in 1964.

Stan McDonald (1958)WACA Ground

Stan McDonald

Stan McDonald made his Test umpiring Test debut in 1958 during the first-ever Test match played at the WACA Ground. Mr McDonald also umpired three First-Class matches. He became a WACUA Life Member in 1972.

Alan Mackley (1963) by WACAWACA Ground

Alan Mackley

Alan Mackley made his Test umpire debut at Adelaide Oval in 1963 and was Test match umpire number 53. Mr Mackley was WA's first Test umpire to officiate a men's Test match. his career included one Test match, 51 First-Class matches and he became a WACUA Life Member in 1962.

Norm Townsend (1972-12)WACA Ground

Norm Townsend

Norm Townsend made his Test umpire debut at Adelaide Oval in 1972 and was Test match umpire number 56. Mr Townsend officiated one Test match, 56 First-Class matches and he became a WACUA Life Member in 1973.

Jim D'Arcy-Evans (1977) by WACAWACA Ground

Jim D'Arcy-Evans

Jim D'Arcy-Evans made his Test umpiring debut in 1977 in a Women's Test match between Australia and India at Hale School, Perth. Mr D'Arcy-Evans umpired one test match, 14 First-Class matches and was made a WACUA Life Member in 1980.

Peter McConnell (1983-11-11)WACA Ground

Peter McConnell

Peter McConnell made his Test umpiring debut alongside Jim D'Arcy-Evans in 1977 in a Women's Test match between Australia and India in Hale, School. Mr McConnell made his Men's Test match debut at the WACA Ground in 1983 and was Test umpire number 69. His career featured 23 Test matches, 82 First-Class matches and 68 One-Day Internationals. He was made a WACUA Life Member in 1988.

Don Weser (1979)WACA Ground

Don Weser

Don Weser made his Test umpire debut at the Sydney Cricket Ground in 1979 and was test umpire number 63. His career included three Test matches, 32 First-Class matches and eight One-Day Internationals and he officiated the infamous underarm ball delivery at the MCG in 1981. Mr Weser was made a WACUA Life Member in 1984.

Terry Prue (1988)WACA Ground

Terry Prue

Terry Prue made his Test umpire debut at the WACA Ground in 1988 and was Test umpire number 73. Mr Prue officiated nine Test matches, 75 First-Class matches and 39 One-Day Internationals. He was made a WACUA Life Member in 1994.

Ric Evans (1997) by WACAWACA Ground

Ric Evans

Ric Evans made his Test umpire debut at Adelaide Oval in 1989 and was Test umpire number 75. Mr Evans' career included three Test matches, 32 First-Class matches and 17 One-Day Internationals. He became a WACUA Life Member in 1993.

Ian LockWACA Ground

Ian Lock

Ian Lock made his Test umpire debut at the WACA Ground in 2014. Mr Lock's career to date includes one Test match and 86 First-Class matches. He was made a WACUA Life Member in 2017.
