130 Years of the Museu Emílio Goeldi Zoobotanical Park

Exhibition celebrating 130 years of the Museu Emílio Goeldi Zoobotanical Park (MPEG), a natural history museum in the Brazilian Amazon rainforest state of Pará, reflecting its connection with the history of its home city of Belém.

In 130 years of existence, MPEG has established itself as one of the leading spaces for memory and nature in the city of Belém, Pará.

To celebrate this moment, the exhibition O Ofício da Memória: o Parque Zoobotânico entre o Séc.XIX e o Séc. XX (Memory Craft: the Zoobotanical Park between the 19th and 20th Centuries) takes visitors on a journey through time.

Through photographs from the Guilherme de La Penha archive, this exhibition reveals how the park, the city, and its inhabitants grew and transformed together. The photographs capture the essence of a place that has become part of the local identity and life in Belém.
