This giant reaches a hight of 16,5 meters and the diameter of the crown is 28 m2 with 615 m2 of a surface area.

... witches celebrated and danced around this magical tree. Today, standing in a small town of Alto Aragón, all 13 inhabitants continue to use it for celebrations. Despite its age, it is still glowing with life, maybe thanks to the magic of witches and locals?
„La Castañera“
According to locals, it produces approximately 600 kilograms of acorns, that is enough to feed their sheep during harsh winter months. Therefore, it is nicknamed as „La castañera“ – the chestnut tree.

This magical tree charmed the fans so much, it received the highest number of votes in the history of the competition; 104,264 and won the European Tree of the Year 2021

The organizer of the Tree of the Year contest on a national level was a Spanish non-profit organization Bosque Sin Fronteras.
