On deck
If you walk over the gangways on the deck of the PEKING, you will get a feeling how the sailors moved during the journey on the Atlantic. The gangways ensured that despite the flooded deck, you could get to the other side on dry feet.

The steering wheel on the deck of the PEKING
The entire deck could be seen from the steering wheel. It is installed in an elevated position on the bridge deck. With the green brace winch, the yards on the fore mast can be moved.

The tween deck of the PEKING
In the course of the restoration, PEKING was made barrier-free. Two elevators lead to all levels of the ship. Exhibitions will be presented on this level in the future.

Inside the cargo hold of the PEKING
The dimensions of the hold can be experienced on the lowest level of the ship. Here the saltpeter was stored on the journey between Chile and Hamburg. After arriving in Hamburg, the goods were unloaded through hatches in the tween- and main deck.
Based on a decision of the German Bundestag, the Minister of State for Culture and the Media will fully fund the construction of the new German Port Museum in Hamburg as well as the restoration of the four-masted barque PEKING with a total of 185.5 million euro.
The preparations for the arrival of the PEKING in Hamburg and the start of operation as a museum ship are funded by the Ministry for Culture and Media of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg.
