One hundred and four works (paintings, sculptures, drawings, engravings, artist's books, dated 1956-2018) selected to highlight the birth and growth of a particular formal language, interior landscapes, landscapes made “of dots”, as defined by herself.

“Poetry is like a landscape - writes Giulia Napoleone - all understanding of things takes place through poetry, everything correlates with a verse. My reading is slow and anguished, an arduous process of assimilation”.

A continuous and constant dialogue between poetry and visual art therefore defines her work, from the first reflections on the theme of the mark, to the tradition of colour, especially blue (“versatile colour”), in which the absence of matter brings out light from the bottom of the paper with delicate clearness.

“The crackle of the fire that brings sheets, sicoglass, canvases, plates, artist's books to life, is the same. The marks seem to cross an entire continent in the sleet, summarising in a point, which is at the same time form, the convergences of Klee, the teachings of Morandi, the ghosts of Fontana, the diagrams of Novelli, the extensions of Sanfilippo, the jokes by Tancredi, the cells of Angeli, the shadows of Guccione”, Giuseppe Appella, curator of the exhibition.
