Tea, coffee, and mug set for the Royal Train
The elegant travel tea service of Maria Theresa of Habsburg Lorraine (1840-1855), wife of Charles Albert, was made by Marc Augustin Lebrun, a pupil of Jean-Baptiste-Claude Odiot and master goldsmith in 1808.
Lebrun won significant commissions in Europe on account of his technical expertise and refined creations which, in his later work, combined neoclassical elements with an eclectic interpretation of the Troubadour style.
The mahogany case, lined with crimson cloth, holds all the necessary items to make tea
kettle with small stove, decorated with fretwork,
teapot, milk jug, sugar bowl, box for tea, basket for pastries, cup, strainer, teaspoon, and sugar tongs.

The refined calligraphic decoration which completely covers the surface, characterized by geometric and arabesque patterns, reveals the expert's inspiration from the ornamental elements of Moorish style.
The service is made of cast and engraved silver. Among the arabesque decorations, the Savoy shield and the coat of arms of Maria Theresa of Austria are juxtaposed and surmounted by a crown.

Tea, coffee, and mug set for the RoyalTrain
Between 1881 and 1896, King Umberto and Queen Margherita commissioned the famous porcelain brand Ginori to produce various pieces. The first, in order of when they were purchased, is the Royal Train set from 1881.

Adorned with gold thread and royal crown transfers, some of this set features rocaille decoration: a nod to Margherita's favorite style.
