A new Tate Britain will be unveiled on 19 November 2013.
To celebrate we're asking leading figures from the worlds of cooking, fashion, poetry, film, photography, music and comedy to share the creative processes behind their own work, inspired by 500 years of British Art.
RE.CREATE with Tate Britain is a new partnership with Google.
We invite you to draw inspiration from 500 years of British Art, then recreate something new to share with friends on Google+, Facebook and Twitter with #tatebritain
Over the coming months we'll announce new themes and introduce new artworks for you to be inspired by
Design duo Preen drew on David Hockney's painting 'A Bigger Splash' in creating swimwear and clothing for their resort collection 2014.
They invited us into the studio to show us how they transformed Hockney's painting with its hot LA light and inviting pool into a fashion 'romance of a dream of an ideal'.
In her twenties and living in Paris, Lulu Guinness had a poster of Bill Brandt's famous photograph 'Nude London' up on her wall.
The image stayed with her, and now becomes an inspiration for her new London Tote bag. Art and Fashion meet as we follow her from Tate Britain to her studio and then to the factory to see the bag in production.
Fashion designer Jonathan Saunders staged his Spring/Summer collection 2014 at Tate Britain, inspired by the grandeur of its neo-classical architecture, as well as by the art within its walls.
Walking through the galleries he chooses a favourite sculpture by Anthony Caro, 'Early One Morning', to explore the relationship between form, colour and structure, and how this relates to his own work with textiles.
Now we want you to be inspired. Please send us your art inspired fashion creations to ‘Fashion meets 500 years of British Art’ via G+, Facebook and Twitter with #tatebritain. We'll publish some of the best right here.
