Life Lessons through Entertainment

Entertainment has long been present in our society in various forms. Be it the gladiator fights at the colosseum during the Roman empire, wherein huge gatherings of an audience came to be entertained, or like the emperors in India who had their very own Navaratnas ('9 gems/jewels') – a group of extraordinary people in the court to entertain the king – the same continued on stage as well as on screen.

Following are a few songs that while giving us entertainment, also shared a valuable life lesson to contemplate on.

What is real and what is fake

The song 'Asli Kya Hai Naqli Kya Hai' focuses on the working class, and  delicately illustrates the cultural difference in our society between the rich and the poor.

These movies incorporated songs with a message to society that while to some may appear melodramatic, many others could indeed connect with. While everyone has their own life experiences, such films and their choice of lyrics gave an entry point to understanding the thoughts and emotions of those who had been through these circumstances.
