Did our ancestors live in the same place all year round? (2019/2019) by Fanny Le BagousseGrotte Chauvet - UNESCO World Heritage Site
Did our ancestors live…
A. All their life in the same spot or B. In different locations depending on the season and the hunt
The correct answer is...
B. In different locations depending on the season and the hunt
To move from place to place, the Aurignacians put the objects used in their day-to-day lives into large knapsacks which they carried on their backs.
Or, they may have made small sleds (like the travois used in Canada) from branches tied together with animal skins, on which they would have placed their objects for setting up camp.
They were nomadic, roaming an area of land that was probably vast (perhaps a few hundred square miles) where they found everything they needed for their subsistence. The pace and direction of these movements were set by the seasons, the course of the sun and the moon, and the lives of the species of game they hunted.
