Visions of Glory

“Visions of Glory: Saints Through the Ages” is a sampling of our masterpieces spanning the centuries that express the manifold ways in which saints have been depicted in art. Meant to inspire devotion in the hearts of the faithful, the broad category of saints in art also provided artists with the opportunity to innovate ways of breathing new life into familiar stories. From contemplative prayer to martyrdom, artists relished depicting saints engaged in a wide range of activities. These paintings were commissioned for churches and private chapels, bedrooms as well as grand public spaces.
