The Plenary of the Federal Senate is one of the legislative houses that make up the National Congress. It is where the 81 senators meet, three for each of the 26 Brazilian states and the Federal District, to debate and vote on the main issues of national interest

The ceiling of the Senate plenary consists of 135,000 metal plates affixed to the plenary dome. Designed by Oscar Niemeyer, the plates are not only works of art, but also serve to break up the light and improve the reverberation and volume of sound in the plenary.

Athos Bulcão was responsible for creating the metal panel that sits behind the boardroom table.

The electronic panels located on the sides identify the session and the presence of the senators, as well as the results of the votes.

The Plenary has a platform from which the members of the Senate Bureau conduct the sessions...

... and on its sides are the two stands for speeches.

Just below the rostrums, the stenographers take turns transcribing the senators' speeches.

The Plenary is home to the seats of the 81 senators. Each of them registers their presence and votes electronically in the bench in front of their own seat, which also has a computer and microphone to facilitate the work and comments of the members of the Senate.
