WITHOUT LAND / SENZA TERRA
Biennale Architettura 2016 - Collateral Event - from an idea of Boris Brollo
The title of the project WITHOUT LAND, more that responding to a geographic position, it responds to the contemporary concept of “no place” by virtue of the mobility and flexibility just contained in the terms that define the “no place”.
The purpose was to single out a point or a place that is par excellence out of time and of physicality but that is concrete for the chances that it can offer of social connections and meetings.
WORK IN PROGRESS
This point or place exists where a man, even if he is the only one, does exist. He is always the symbol of the created universe for the various religions. If a man is an island, he is at the same time a point, a mind, a body, a heart, a desire, a thought, an unicum and so on. He is a togetherness and, however, he is a single and separate individual. He is in any part of the earth/world because he has everything with himself even if he is without a Land, without a Country, without a Nation.

The point is the result of a converging and a diverging of straight lines, of human and material relations, of pauses and stops. It is the result of the “out” movement of emigration and of the “in” movement of immigration.

WORK IN PROGRESS
In this change from a point to another, nothing else persists except the culture itself. Culture (that in Italian means also the act of tending the soil) belongs to everybody similar to the air that also belongs to everybody. This was the purpose of the project: to show that every man, and in particular the Artist (be a Painter, a Poet or a Musician), is without land because the only ground and land that nurtures and hosts him is his own culture.
WORK IN PROGRESS
At the bottom of the aerostatic balloon, a plate is placed with the inscription of all the names of the artists participating in the project WITHOUT LAND. The names are in alphabetical order but without the mention of functions and activities as sculptor, painter, photographer, musician, literatus or whatever else. There are only names and last names of human beings who have zeroed their social functions.

Aerostatic Tiramisù
A modern interpretetion of the Tiramisù (the most famous venetian cake, is the symbol of the San Servolos island with an aerostatic ballon with the taste of coffee)
Land & Sea
Fake land of wild seeds, sand of millet and raw shrimp (The idea is to represent the dish in shards of broken pots or a vase overturned where the earth and sand usually contained in pots no longer have borders ... and encounter a living form of sea shrimp).
The WITHOUT LAND project was ispirational to the artist Simon Ostan Simone which he created a video elaborating the critic found from the curator Boris Brollo
