Renata Tebaldi began her bright career in the major theaters: Milan, Venice, Naples, Rome, Florence, Catania etc ... Achieving sensational successes everywhere.

Her first debut abroad was at the Teatro San Carlos in Lisbon and in 1951 she crossed the ocean and sang at the Teatro Municipal of Rio de Janeiro and at the Teatro Municipal of Sao Paulo do Brasil, San Francisco and  Los Angeles.

In 1950 she is in London and Ediburgh with Teatro alla Scala in Otello and Mozart’s Requiem.

On June 30, 1951 with the Teatro San Carlo Renata sang at the Paris Opera in the "Joan of Arc"

In June she debuted in La Forza del Destino at the Teatro Comunale in Florence, conducted  by Mitropoulos. 
On December, she debuted in Wally at Teatro alla Scala.

On 6 March at the Capitol Great Hall in Washington, Renata sang with Corelli before John F.Kennedy in celebration of 50 years of Italian unity.

On 28 September, Renata left for for her debut in Tokyo and Osaka with Arturo Basile and, in the NHK Hall sang in Andrea Chenier with Del Monaco.  Attending the recital was the Emperor Hirohito. Renata also sang Tosca.

1962

In September she was in Bilbao and Oviedo. In Oviedo she went to the corrida where the torero, Ostos, dedicated the bull to her.

Renata withdrew for a prolonged period of rest triggering  all kinds of rumors which ran from her wedding to her retirement to a convent! 

Renata appeared on an American TV program along with Corelli to deny all these versions and reaffirming her decision to stay away from public appearances for a year.

1964

On March 14th Renata returns to the scene at the Met after a year of absence.

Harold Schonberg wrote in the New York Times: “what a pleasure to see again the Tebaldi of the great years.  When have we ever heard a “vissi d’arte” like yesterday evening?  It was no longer a romance.  It was a heartfelt imploration.  The audience was moved and applauded wildly”.

The Met tour continues: Cleveland, Washington, Toronto, Atlanta, Memphis, Dallas, St.Louis, Minneapolis, Detroit.

She alternates concerts and appearances with television shows to the operatic interpretations. After the tour, he agrees to sing again at New York's Lewison Stadium in front of twenty thousand spectators.

1966-1967

Once again Boston, Montreal, and New York at the new Metropolitan, the Lincoln Center which she opens with “La Gioconda”, triumphantly taken on tour by the Met.

This was the start of Renata’s second artistic youth.  The audiences adored her:  Harold Schonberg wrote in the New York Times “Miss Tebaldi is your darling, my darling, everybody’s darling…..”

On 15 February 1968 in Hartford Bushnell Memorial Placido Domingo debuts with Renata in Manon Lescaut.

On 16 September 1968,  for the opening of the season at Lincoln Center Adriana Lecouvreur was re-proposed. 

Maria Callas approached Renata;  they embraced.  “I wish a thousand of these successes to you and that you may be happy”, Maria said.

I pochi ammessi all’incontro avevano, con le protagoniste, le lacrime agli occhi.
Il giorno dopo Renata telefona a Maria, che tuttavia era già partita per Parigi. Le scrive allora una lettera, alla quale Maria risponde invitandola a Parigi.
