The old dry mill

Major object of Suvača (1899) by Suvača Kikinda and Vladimir Sretenović 02/01/2021Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Serbia

Suvača - the only existing horse driven mill in Serbia, built in 1899, running until 1945. Such mills were characteristic for the flat lands; there were over 50 such mills in Kikinda. Suvača is declared to be the cultural monument of exceptional significance.

Model of Suvača - an old mill of the Banat plain. By turning the wheel on the model, the big wheel starts to spin, into which the horses were harnessed, thus driving the mill mechanism. There are also items related to the production of bread: breadcrumbs, sieve, racket...
