Introducing the Phansi Museum
Phansi Museum is a repository of artistic work with linkages to critical milestones in the spiritual and social development of indigenous communities in southern Africa. The displays in the museum are arranged across various rooms in the form of installations which highlight particular aspects of Ubuntu and indigenous art. 1. The Ubuntu Gallery
This gallery leads to a patio and is set aside for a schedule of changing exhibitions including contemporary Ubuntu Art. It is also a popular venue for meetings, lectures and music events.

2. The Ngena Gallery
This gallery houses the Seedbank of Identity where visitors are introduced to the underlying principles of Ubuntu.These principles are Continuity, Order and Respect (COR). We have added an ‘E’ for ‘Empathy’ (thus CORE) as we believe there is much repairing to be done on our way

This installation consists of twenty life-size marionettes dressed in regional attire which showcase the incredible inventiveness of the people of southern Africa. The musical instruments provide a backdrop of rhythm to this collection of body art.

The Phansi Installations The lower-ground floor celebrates the abaPhansi [forefathers]. Exhibitions at this level present the evolution of various traditions and artifacts through time as they adapted to incorporate new materials, skills, ideas and philosophies.
