Nasi Goreng literally translates as fried rice. These typical push carts is where Nasi Goreng freshly served to your liking. You can find them parked around office buildings, near schools, parks even residential areas during lunch time, dinner time or late nights.

You can find various protein that goes with your rice, such as chicken, goat meat, bakso and sausages. Nasi Goreng always comes with some veggies. If you are feeling really hungry, try the Nasi Goreng gila (meaning 'crazy') which is a mix of everything in your plate!

The fried rice seller would then made the nasi goreng in a big hot wok according to your order, extra spicy perhaps? Extra shallots? More greens? How do you like your eggs to go with your Nasi Goreng, sunny side up, omelette or just mix it in the rice? Your choice!

A complete set of Nasi Goreng

A complete set of nasi goreng would look like this, the fresh of the wok fried rice mixed with your favorite protein and vegetable, extra protein on top (here is shredded chicken), eggs, freshly sliced cucumber and of course a handful of kerupuk!  Selamat makan!

NASI GORENG

Ingredient :



2 full plate (300 g) rice
2 tbsp of boiled/fried chicken, shredded - optional
2 tbsp of sweet soy sauce - optional
1 tbsp soy sauce

1 tsp salt

50 g green vegetable of your choice, sliced
2 tbsp green onion, sliced

1 egg

1tbsp vegetable oil/soy oil/ coconut oil or substitute with margarine/ butter to sautee the spices

Spice blends (Bumbu) (blended using kitchen blender or mortar and pestle :

3 chilli

2 cayenne pepper (optional)

2 clove of garlic

4 clove of shallot

2 curn candlenut - optional

1/2 tsp ground pepper

1 tsp grilled terasi

Condiments:
Pickled cucumber

Kerupuk

Egg cooked to your preference but usually served as omellette
Fried shallots

How to make :
1. Heat your wok and Panaskan wajan masukan minyak atau mentega
2. Sautee the spice blend, add shredded chicken, stir until aroma is fragrant.
3. Add egg stir until half cooked and then add the rice
4. Add soy sauce, sweet soy sauce, salt and pepper.
5. Add vegetables and green onions. Mix well.


Nasi Goreng is ready to serve with extra condiments.
