"Operation Kalavryta" was organized by the 117th Jäger Division of the German Wehrmacht in December 1943 (December 5,1943 until December 14,1943). The result was the destruction of two monasteries (Monastery of Megalo Spilaio and Monastery of Agia Lavra), most of the villages around the city of Kalavryta and Kalavryta itself, moreover 696 Greek civilians (men and boys over the age of 12) were executed. Monuments to the Executed were created after the Second World War in all the destroyed villages in the province of Kalavryta, in order to preserve the memory of the executed civilians.

Zachlorou was destroyed on December 8, 1943 during the "Operation Kalavryta" by German occupation forces. Seventeen (17) men were executed and six (6) men survived the execution.

Rogoi was destroyed on December 8, 1943 during the "Operation Kalavryta" by German occupation forces. Sixty six (66) men and boys were executed and five (5) survived from the massacre.

The village of Kerpini was destroyed on December 8, 1943, during the "Operation Kalavryta" by German occupation forces. Thirty-nine (39) men and boys were executed and three (3) survived the execution.

The Monastery of Mega Spilaio was destroyed on December 8, 1943, during the "Operation Kalavryta" by soldiers of the German regular army. Twenty-five (25) monks and civilians were executed.

On December 13, 1943 four hundred sixty five (465) men and boys were executed and thirteen (13) men survived the execution.
