A powerful propaganda tool, wall newspapers became the primary way of spreading ideas and slogans.
This wall newspaper, produced by the 1st Company of the 4th Battalion of the 13th International Brigade, is made up of letters from young soldiers, who were known as the Quinta de Biberón (baby-bottle regiment) because of their young age.
The youth
"Comrades, the youth have one of the most important roles in this fight. It is their mission to be the first to face all challenges and to mobilize other comrades, so that this cause may be our most effective action."
Our mother is sick!
"Spain is immortal. Why is it immortal? Because those who were born in her have unparalleled mettle, courage, and daring. Though her children love those close to them, there comes a time, as sad as it is, when they march wherever their Homeland calls them to, without hesitation or wavering …"
"Everyone covets you, but you will be ours."
Notes
"Yes, let's be comrades. Let's say this word as many times as necessary, but let it be from the heart. And may this word bring us together. May no one try to undermine it or utter it only when they open their mouth for personal gain."
The problem of water
"The more water there is, the better we can satisfy our thirst and look after our personal hygiene. So, could those who look after themselves use the reserves in a way that means not a drop is lost?"
