La solitudine femminile (1967) by Giosetta FioroniLa Galleria Nazionale
Ragazza tv (tv girl) is a work that properly represents Giosetta Fioroni’s ways and is typical of the time in which it was created.

In the mid-60s in fact, the artist looks with great attention to the imaginary of mass communication, interpreting however this interest in a personal way with a sensitivity and intentionality far removed from those of American artists, as Fioroni herself has stated on several occasions.

In this sense, for our work, the presence of silver is also emblematic, certainly a characteristic feature of the artist’s production at the time.
An element that, as has been noted on several occasions, introduces in the apparent simplicity of the act of taking images spread by the media - photographed and then drawn by the artist - a different dimension, an element of clear detachment from perceptive reality - and thus evokes that “sentimental variant” (to use Fioroni’s own words) which marks a clear break from most pop art.

In fact, the artist’s gaze reflects on this image that seems to arise from a layer of memories.
It is not a mechanical gaze but, through a beacon, certainly cooled, it is also possible to observe the stereotyped image in a new way.
Fioroni deals with a continuous confrontation with the figures, especially female, who populate her paintings and are the protagonists of a new action, which is in fact profound and meditated and certainly never limits itself to pure observation.
