The Artist

Jacques Moeschal (1913-2004) was born in Uccle, Belgium. He gave classes at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts and the National School of Architecture and Visual Arts in Brussels.

Station #8: Solar Disc

This piece has the largest dimensions in the Route, made of reinforced concrete standing at a height of more than 17 meters. Situated on the most ancient archeological foundation of Mesoamerica.

Without a doubt this piece once again became the symbol representing the Route for its size and its location at the entrance to the Olympic Village.

It’s made up of a base and spreads up in the shape of an unclosed “earring” with a gap at the top. The work of art maintains its original dark green color.
