Derzhprom by SkeironSkeiron
A Kharkiv icon
And this building here is Derzhprom, which for lots of people makes the primary impression of Kharkiv. Its full title is – the State Industry Building, but this means different things for different people.
The authors of the project Serhiy Serafimov, Samuil Kravets and Mark Felger called their work "The Uninvited Guest".
Reinforced concrete
"Reinforced concrete was shot into the sky," this is how Mayakovsky would have described it, and he wouldn't have fallen short of the mark. In 1925, when the construction of Gosprom began, reinforced concrete was still uncommon.
The American classic Theodore Dreiser called it "a miracle seen in Kharkiv." Another peculiar fact - real mammoth bones were discovered here, during the construction of the foundation. Now, these mammoths "live" in a nearby nature museum.
Skeiron, is a team of people who have been concerned about the fate of Ukraine's cultural heritage for many years. Our task is to engrave as much of Ukraine's architectural and artistic heritage as possible and preserve historical memory from the destructive influences of the time. We scanned cultural sites before the war. Now, at the time of the full-scale invasion, we understand the even greater urgency. For this reason, we initiate the #SaveUkrainianHeritage project. The project's aim is 3D scanning of cultural monuments throughout Ukraine, where circumstances allow. We create 3D models using laser scanning and photogrammetry technologies. This allows you to record the condition of the monument more accurately and help restore it in case of destruction.
