The themes and motifs depicted in the baroque paintings, of which often only details were selected, fascinated the academy students. Félix Klajnerman transfers the works of the Caravaggisti into our present, but retains the theatricality of the scenes.
The theatricality of the caravaggesque pictures is emphasized in particular by the play with light and shadow. This light situation was of particular interest to the young painter.
