The Dionisio Pinheiro and Alice Cardoso Pinheiro Foundation was born May 5, 1969, by the institution testamentary of the couple, in the city of Águeda - Portugal - with objectives in the fields of Museology (sheltering the Art Collection built during life), Culture (promoting and dynamizing various projects) and Assistance (granting scholarships and academic awards).
The June 28, 1985 opened to the public the building Museum / headquarters in Quinta S. Pedro, belongs to the couple, under project of architect Agostinho Rica. Contemporary space, conscious of his place in society, with a reference value and synthesis, able to transform and to provide social and cultural alternative models adequate to mark, characterize and transmit the values and the signs of the times; rescuing, in its concept, the power as an institution of reference for the global society: values of urbanity essences in transcultural present.
With his Curator, Vieira Duque, the Fundação Dionísio Pinheiro e Alice Cardoso Pinheiro Museum, aspires to function as an Romance, where objects are narrators and function like active agents of Memory, and, alongside the literary texts, have specific rhythm, grammar, syntax and logic of its own, coordinating articulation among the different elements of space and exhibits, in a logic of the text expography, reaching the ludic and pedagogical, cultural, social, collective and individual.
A praxis where heritage has as its mission to promote a space of experience, leading the Human Being to the world of the extraordinary, the magic, enchantment and imagination, this way exercising tolerance through art objects from our collection in the fields of Archeology, Sculpture, Painting, Decorative Arts, Jewelery, Furniture, Printmaking, Ceramics and Librarian Collection.
