Our non-profit association was founded by Guido Knopp ("ZDF") und Hans-Ulrich Jörges ("stern") in 2006. Its aim is to collect and archive memories of contemporary witnesses to the changeful German history in the 20th century in form of filmed interviews for the following generation. These memories were professionally edited by historians and presented on our website www.gedaechtnis-der-nation.de. It's made for everyone who is interested in history, but also for students in schools and universities.
