How Cyark Created a 3D Model of The Palacio de Bellas Artes

The Palacio de Bellas Artes is one of the most iconic buildings in Mexico City.

In October 2018 CyArk worked with the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes (INBA) and the Agenda Digital de Cultura office of the Secretaria de Cultura to document the Palacio de Bellas Artes.

They used drones to map the exterior of the building and create an accurate record of the monument’s condition.

These aerial images were aligned to create a 3D model.

A process called digital photogrammetry was also used inside the theatre and for the main stage.

The 3D documentation of the Palacio will make the data available to more communities and allow architects and engineers to see the current state of the monument.
