ACC Global Series - Futura

ALL CITY CANVAS was back in 2013 with a new offer known as Global Series (ACCGS) by Hennessy Very Special, which consisted of a series of interventions made by the best artists in urban art history -both old and new-, on the best walls of the main cities around the globe. From April 16th to 19th, Futura, one of the fathers of graffiti in the 70′s intervened an iconic wall located in Insurgentes Avenue and Madrid Street in the Tabacalera neighborhood. This wall became part of the circuit of the ALL CITY CANVAS 2012 Festival, which spans through downtown Mexico City.

Futura 2000 (USA, b.1955), the pseudonym of Lenny McGurr, is one of the major players on the current international urban art scene. Born in New York, he began painting on the subway system as a teenager in the early 1970s, and over the course of his career was associated with the groups 3YB, CIA, FBI, Interpol, and KGB. Futura helped define the graffiti movement by moving it away from lettering and towards the more painterly, abstract style. In the 1980s, he began to work on canvas, and exhibited along with American artists Keith Haring and Basquiat.
