Unearth the Secrets of Ancient Ephesus at the Ephesus Museum

Ephesus Museum, located in the Selçuk district of Izmir province of Turkey, hosts artifacts unearthed from the Ancient City of Ephesus and its immediate surroundings.

In this section, there are marble statues of Aphrodite, Hera, 3 Tritons, and a male-bodied satyr with a tail, which enrich the exterior of the two-storey fountain building.

One of the most important structures in the ancient city of Ephesus is a two-story fountain building. The building is decorated with statues of Dionysos, a satyr, Aphrodite, and Androklos, the founder of Ephesus, and his dog.

In this hall, where the chronological development of Ephesus is explained with a panel, artifacts from 7000 BC to the 7th century AD are exhibited in the showcases. This marble statue  is the  Resting Warrior from the 1st century BC.

In the middle garden inside the museum, there are marble capitals, reliefs, statues, sarcophagi, stelae, and decorative elements from the Archaic Period to the Eastern Roman Period.

In this hall, a cult area is recreated with votive stelae carved into the rocks near Ephesus in the Ancient Period and small figurines of the Mother Goddess seated inside.

In this showcase, artifacts captured from the Ephesus Artemis Temple and Sanctuary, B.C. 7.–6. terracotta pots dating back to the 19th century are exhibited.

The head and arm parts of the statue of Emperor Domitianus, located in the Hall of Emperor Cults and recovered from the Temple of Domitianus in Ephesus, which was first dedicated to the emperor.
