Borusan Contemporary
Istanbul, Türkiye

Borusan Holding has been a valuable patron of the arts and culture, especially of classical music and visual arts. Borusan Contemporary Art Collection, which was founded based on this vision and which meets its visitors every weekend at Perili Köşk, has the privilege of being the first collection in Turkey which is a member of IACCCA (International Association of Corporate Collections of Contemporary Art). The collection, which was established in the 90s, initially focused on Modern and Contemporary Turkish Art. Yet with the inclusion of international contemporary artists such as Donald Judd, Sol LeWitt and Jim Dine in the 2000s, it underwent a change and eventually shifted its focus towards New Media Arts with the inauguration of Borusan Contemporary as an art center. In addition to commissioned site-specific works, the character of the collection is rooted in experimental and digital artworks that are acquired after temporary exhibitions.

Borusan Contemporary Art Collection consists of digital-medium artworks that can be classified as video art, installation, new media, neon-LED and photography. The collection, in which artists such as Brigitte Kowanz, François Morellet, Ola Kolehmainen, Edward Burtynsky, Rafael Lozano-Hemmer, Robert Mapplethorpe, Maurizo Nannucci, Doug Aitken, Peter Zimmermann, Gerwald Rockenschaub, Liam Gillick, U-Ram Choe, Daniel Rozin, Daniel Canogar, Marina Zurkow and Manfred Mohr are represented thoroughly, is also documented periodically with catalogues and books.

While the collection further encompasses Turkish Contemporary Art through generations with the examples of Ayşe Erkmen, Bülent Evren, Ali Kazma, Cevdet Erek, Gülsün Karamustafa and Esra Ersen, it is also supportive of the new generations through its inclusion of artists such as Burak Arıkan, Evrim Kavcar, Serkan Taycan, Lale Delibaş and Erdal İnci.
